Points of Interest

On the L.A. Times Product team, we created a new framework in our CMS for storing and reusing information about important places, a project led by me and Genesia Ting. We call it Points of Interest. The goal was to make it easier for the newsroom to present places in curated, user-friendly formats like maps and lists. Readers benefit from features like sorting and filtering as well as direct actions like links to order delivery from a restaurant. “POI Lists,” as we call them, have become consistently high-performing at converting readers to paying subscribers.
